The difference between selling and Marketing

SELLING

Selling simply means to sell some products. In selling salesman is associated with the customer till the product is sold. After collecting cash salesman focus on the next customer and this continues.

MARKETING

Marketing focus on the buyers needs and they always try to maintain their customer for lifetime and for this their main focus is on the customers and their needs not on the products/services.In the case of Marketing product are designed according to the customers.

Let's discuss some primary differences.

Selling

  • The main job is to find the customer for your products.
  • Selling involves push strategy, it means that you have to push your customer to buy products from you
  • Selling is a part of Marketing
  • Selling don't care for the value satisfaction, it may be possible that you don't get the value in the product what you expected.
  • Selling views the customer as the last link in the business.
  • Selling start with the production and ends with the delivery of the products and collection of cash and this process repeated.

Marketing 

  • The main job of marketing is to find the right product/services for your customer.
  • Marketing is more pull than push
  • Marketing involve many things like research Product Planning and development , Promotions, costs, distributions and selling.
  • Marketing's only concerns with the value satisfaction.Their primary job is to satisfy the customer needs and give value according to them.
  • Marketing views the Business from the point of view of the customers.
  • Marketing Begins much before the production, from identifying the true customer and their needs . After all this they all ensures the service after sales.
